The one number that matters
Every floor gets a Pendulum Test Value
We measure grip wet and dry and give each area a PTV. Here’s what your result means — and what we’d do about it.
You’re in good shape
About a one-in-a-million chance of a slip. We document it so you have dated, accredited evidence the floor was safe — and suggest when to re-check.
Worth managing
The floor needs attention — often a change of cleaning, sometimes a treatment. We tell you which, independently, and re-test to confirm.
Act on it
A real hazard, especially when wet. We set out the realistic options and re-test afterwards, so you can show you acted — the evidence an insurer, the HSE or the CQC looks for.
Two methods
Pendulum and surface roughness
The HSE recognises two complementary tests. The pendulum measures grip directly; surface roughness (Rz) tracks how a floor changes over time and matters most in contaminated areas like kitchens and factories. We’re accredited for both.

By the numbers
Slips and trips are the single most common cause of major injury in UK workplaces.Source: HSE
Industry estimates put the cost of slips and trips to UK employers at over £500 million a year, and suggest accredited testing can cut the risk of a claim by around half.Industry estimate
